Is there a sub for bargain shopping, like retail, deals, coupons, sales? Or something close to that nature. I'd rather it be broad and a large sub than specific and a small sub.

How do you bargain hunt for necessities?
Main Post:
I wasn't raised in a household that cared too much about money(my parents were a "Put it on the credit card!" kind of people). I was never taught how to budget or buy cheaper, because mom and dad will just take care of it.
Now that I have my own household to worry about, we're struggling to make ends meet and stay above water and I feel like I just can't wrap my head around it. We try to shop around for good deals and spending as little as possible, but I'm taking a full hour just trying to figure out how many cents difference each store sells cat food for, and I don't even know where to start with coupons.... there has to be an easier way, right? Do you guys use any apps or sites that can compare prices for the same products between retailers? Or is everyone just putting hours of work and research every week to make sure they're getting the absolute lowest possible price on basic grocery items? I just feel like I'm missing something.
Top Comment: First, make sure you are not being "penny wise, pound foolish". And you get a good idea what a necessity is :-). Not all savings are worth it. As an example you wouldn't use a gallon of gas and an hour of time to save 50 cents on something. Second step is figuring out if what you actually buy is frugal to begin with. As an example, say you always buy pre cut pork chops (bone in) for 2.39 a pound, a recent price I saw here. But a boneless pork loin roll is 1.89 a pound. Buying that and cutting it in inch thick chops gets you more meat for less money. Buying a spiral cut holiday ham and portioning and freezing it if you like ham is often cheaper than buying the same ham a month later. Same with turkey, we got several on clearance for 50 cents a pound this week. We are cooking, freezing, I am making bone broth and this week we will home can 14 quarts of home made turkey soup. Any recipe you make with beef can be made with pork, chicken, even fish in many cases. And with different cuts of meat very often. So our meals are planned around the cheapest meats in the cheapest cuts, or I am cutting myself. If you buy hamburger helper in boxes, it is often cheaper to make it from scratch. Same with Mac and cheese in fact (and tastes better). Most boxed meals are pricey when you look at what you get and don't get in them. Many name brands are no better quality than store brands, yet they cost more. I don't spend hours chasing pennies because I know what the average prevailing regular price is on what we buy and eat. So when I am looking at a sale circular, I know what is actually a sale for me. I have every grocery store reward card in existence, and I use them every time. This often results in emails or regular mail coupons specific to my shopping. Once a week I open all the store circulars for my stores in tabs on the laptop. I quickly see who has what on sale. I build my loose meal plan for the week. Then I rank the stores based on who has the lowest prevailing prices. I look through the digital coupons, clip them. I write out a semi final grocery list, based entirely on sales and what we have on hand. If any clipped coupons happen to get used that way great! If not they disappear anyway. Then we go shopping and while in store I check fie clearance deals and marked down meats. The planning process takes at most 15 minutes. The shopping depends on where we are in the month, the main stock up shopping the first if the month takes a lot longer than other trips during the month. I try to limit random trips for "just one thing". Often if I do not have 1 thing, I leave it out or make something different. Impulse shopping trips lead to impulse purchases. We always keep plenty of canned or frozen veggies on hand so we are only shopping for fresh things a few times a month.
